As part of 80 years of Freedom in Assen, Music Chamber Assen is organizing this unique concert. The program includes parts of the monumental work “The Peacemakers” by the British composer Karl Jenkins. The work was written in 2011 and is a downright ode to people striving for world peace. Jenkins took inspiration from famous individuals who have worked for peace, including Martin Luther King, Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa and Gandhi. The concert is organized under the auspices of Muziekkamer Assen and involves a unique collaboration between several cultural institutions from Assen: the Somer Kamerorkest, Kamerkoor Arpeggio, Koorschool Drenthe and actor Dick van Veen.
